What are the biggest barriers preventing researchers from accessing high-performance compute today?
Is it cost, availability, technical complexity, or something else?
I’d love to hear perspectives from developers and researchers in the community.
I think cost is the biggest problem, especially for small research teams. Access is also limited, and the systems can be hard to set up and use. Even when computing power is available, long waiting times and technical issues can slow down research.
Beyond cost and availability, data access, long allocation queues, software licensing, storage and bandwidth limits.
This is just my personal opinion, so I’m not completely sure. There may be other, more important issues 
It’s money. It’s about having the incentives aligned to support researchers in problem solving. People need paid and access to capital to pay for costs. When the financial incentives are properly aligned access is not a problem.
